Couture Gulf Brooch Safari

15 Jul

Following on the last post, I want to call your attention to what the NY Mag Fug Girls declares the return of the statement brooch. Why not piggy back on another Paris couture show trend and sport a pin that takes a wild animal to a new bedazzled level? Wearing one is also a great way to honor the Gulf wildlife suffering both directly and indirectly from effects of the oil spill. I urge you to read the latest NYT animal autopsy report here.

From the Fall 2010 collection is a Bollywood meets bold Dior serpent ring surrounded by a cast of estate sea and shore friends from 1st Dibs and Beladora:

Serpents & Stingrays & Hawks, Oh My!

Dangerous land, sea and air animal pieces keep coming at us season after season (starting last year).

While many creatures have interesting textures, this trio of snakes, stingrays and birds of prey is unique for its ability to inflict sharp pain. Perhaps we adorn talons and recreations of poisonous stingers as signals to “get out of my way” and “stay away.” Thoughts?

High style and high intimidation factor. I wouldn’t want to mess with whomever sports these claw-like, creepy and crawly pieces.
