Embarcadero Breezes

12 Jun

Having grown up in the Ocean State, I was always 20 minutes away from the ocean. Now I’m fortunate enough to be one block away from the Bay and breezes into the Pacific.

It could only be better if temps passed 60.

Until then, I’ll be dreaming of warm rays and a bright palette…

Spring Crushes

25 Apr

In Austin, it goes from balmy to boiling in about a millisecond. Wherever you are though, these pieces will give you that gilded sparkle you need to confidently carry on through late spring into summer nights.

Valentine’s Jewelry (in a Bento Box to boot)

31 Jan

It’s simple: 4 out-of-the-box pieces to wear on your Valentine’s date and 1 new tray to hold all of your treasures. Black, red and curvy. Sound good to you? 14 days and counting.

Drop Earring Jungle

23 Jan

Seems like everyone I know is choosing winter wonderland vacations to don their new faux fur vests this year (yes, all of you at Alt & Sundance…so jealous). Lately, my mind has been wandering to warmer destinations though. I love the cold when it’s accompanied by apres ski and fireside buffets, but not when a real chill hits Austin. Something about the city and hot chocolate just isn’t right…so I had to take myself away with this mashup of earrings.

Gifts for Ballerinas Big & Small

12 Dec

As I continue to debate whether I’m brave enough to see Black Swan, I cataloged these pieces appropriate to wear to the Nutcracker in your hometown or to gift your favorite ballerina friend.

Wish List 2010

Wish List 2010 featuring a diamond ring

It takes 5 minutes to make your own wish list here: http://bit.ly/hMw2lU. Show me your Top 6 jewelry picks when done by emailing the link to heyfrostthis@gmail.com. Digital decoupage is a great way to slowly dig out of that turkey coma!

Cuff Smorgasbord

9 Nov

Seen any of these unique gilded beauties around? I hadn’t and think there’s a cuff to match just about any personality right now. Feeling goth, dark or trying to conjure a skeleton post Halloween…try the corset bracelet (upper left). Need to snazz up that work sheath to look oh so holiday festive…take inspiration from the diamond and twig vintage YSL stunner (lower right).

At the end of the day (quite literally now), everyone could use a little gold magic to get through the cold, dark winter nights. “Fall back” in style!

Black Tie Drops

21 Oct

A loyal reader who just happens to be one of my best friends wrote in with an earring conundrum. She fell in love with the below $5k drops (dotted with diamonds in the gold hoops) to wear to an upcoming wedding, but would not even dare pay the sticker price. She challenged me to come up with something similar in the $200 range.

I must say that I’m quite pleased with the results. A little deco, some strips of leather and lots of chainmail. Take a look!

Foot Fetishes

14 Sep

Frosting should be relegated to fingers and above. I have never met anyone who says their ankles are their best body part (even Jenifer Aniston), so why highlight that region in the summer OR winter?

And why did Jimmy Choo have to go here…for $800 no less?

If you really must push the envelope, try out these similarly odd picks for your upper half: a squirrel necklace and studded two finger ring.
